It has been a little while, I know. I have been sharing some yummy recipes and a few deals with you on my Facebook page, The Couponing Coach. But I wanted to give you an update of what is going on with me right now and where things are at.
Over the last year, since Late October 2014, I have struggled to try to figure out how to make this page work better and get to you better, be more relevant and many other things. In October 2014, the insert business was going along really well, when it came to a dead HAULT and there was nothing that I could do to get it started back up. When that happened, I saw a drop in all my other affiliate programs too. Needless to say, that while I love helping people, to sit for hours upon hours in front of my computer and not take care of other things needed to result in a decent income for me personally.
As 2015 came in, the year continued to go downhill. I did not start sharing my deals with everyone to make money, but the blessing of the additional income made it so that I was able to justify spending HOURS posting the deals for everyone to be blessed by. Then in late May, my husband and I felt lead by God for John to retire from the Police Department after 28 years. So on August 28, my husband went to work dressed in a Hawaiian print shirt and shorts to retire from the PD.
My family from left to right:
Beau 28, Max 12 (Zac's stepson) Zac 26, Brent 18 (Mackenzie's boyfriend sitting behind), Mackenzie 17 (beside Brent), Nichole (Zac's wife), Rosie 13 (Zac's stepdaughter), Lynzi 12, Isaac 19, Silas 15, John, Kelly, Ceili 14, Ariel Joy 10, and Kyle 27. Missing is grandson Landon who is 5 and Isaac's girlfriend Nekoda who took the picutres!
At this time I announced that I would be spending more of my time focusing on my family for a season. And I have. ALL 9 of my kids made it home for Christmas this year and we did have an amazing time being together. But I have also been praying about what to do about The Couponing Coach website and all the wonderful people that I have helped in the past couple of years.
I have been putting this off for a bit now, as I really enjoyed this part of my life. But at this time, I am pretty much laying this site down. You will still be able to print coupons from here for a time. I don't know how long the affiliates will allow this, but I will keep them until they remove me (I've already had some do this.) I have been praying a lot about what to do with the site, but I have received no direction from Papa God at this time, so I am just leaving it as is.
PLEASE, Do not misunderstand me in this, I am still using coupons a LOT! While my husband did retire from the PD, our plan was for him to work full-time. We still have 6 kids living at home that need mom and dad to financially take care of them. So the plan all along has been for him to counsel, but his client list wasn't growing either, so he put his resume in for another job at the same place he had been working for the last 4 years and was hired on as full-time executive staff. God is providing for our family, but I am being a good steward of that income by using coupons.
At this time, I am not posting deals. Nor do I plan on posting deals. I've enjoyed serving you in this way, but now I need to go back to being a wife, a mom, a coach and take care of life. Thank you for being faithful all these years! And remember, you can still print coupons from this site and use the coupon database to look up coupons!

This was NOT announced. Most of us have planned a shopping trip using the past coupon policy, gone thru the entire transaction, started handing in our coupons and then the cashier informs us that they can’t accept more than 5 like coupons, but we’ve already purchased 12 items and they are now on the belt sent out for pick up.
This is frustrating. There was no announcement via social media (Facebook, Twitter). Giant Eagle changed their coupon policy at the end of September 2015. When they did, they had the courtesy to give us advance notice to allow us to be properly prepared for the change. This also enabled their cashiers, who make minimum wage for the most part, not have to take the anger from customers. They posted signs throughout the stores giving notice of this change.
This is not the case with Buehler’s. On Sunday, November 8, 2015, they changed their coupon policy. Yesterday, I looked for notice of this in my local store, and found nothing posted as I walked in the door. The only spot that I was made aware of the change was at the checkout in small wording on the check-writing ‘desk’.
Change is inevitable. Abuse has happened. Stores don’t like losing money from abuse. Totally get it. BUT…
A sneak attack, equals poor business sense. My husband was doing my shopping because I have been busy with the house and he was going to be in town. The cashier worked with him. The store has put in place adaptive measures, but sadly, if Buehler’s would have just given us a week’s notice before the change was put in place, then they wouldn’t have had to go to that measure.
Trust me, Buehler’s has on their coupon policy at the bottom “Buehler’s reserves the right to modify or permanently change this policy at any time.” OK. We get it. But that doesn’t mean that giving your customers that head’s up isn’t good business sense.
It’s been 2 days since my husband went shopping for me. I have processed this situation and had a cooling down period. I live in a community where my choices of grocery stores are limited to 2 and unfortunately, that means I am stuck with whatever big brother super market decides.
Because of coupon abuse, we have seen several major grocery chains in the last year go to very limited coupon redemption and take away doubling. So in the long run, I was not surprised by the choice Buehler’s has made. It was only a matter of time before this happened and we all knew it when we saw the newest Giant Eagle coupon policy.
Also be made aware that Buehler’s follows the CIC website: http://www.couponinformationcenter.com/. This site has made it clear (in the past because I just searched the site and they have removed this info!!!) that every episode of Extreme Couponing on TLC abuses coupons. I can honestly say that is not the case and they have thrown out the baby with the bath water. When I did the show at Buehler’s, I brought all my coupons in to the store manager, submitted my game plan and it was approved as being totally legit. I was not compensated in any way by Buehler’s and I am no longer under contract with TLC Extreme Couponing. I loved doing the show! It was a blast! And yes, that was real savings and I met the challenge that Extreme Couponing gave me of a minimum of $500 spent with 90% or more savings! Yes it was a game! And yes, I won!!! But Buehler’s found the CIC site between the time I did the show, February 2012 and the time the show aired in June 2012. Needless to say, that is why they have been silent about the show and showed no support for the episode.
Okay, enough said. Bottom line: Buehler’s has a new coupon policy that went into effect on Sunday, November 8, 2015. There was no announcement made to make any of us aware of this change. So, make sure you check out the new coupon policy for yourself. It’s available online on the Buehler’s website.
